Oxford-Cambridge Arc – your views

The Oxford-Cambridge Arc (the Arc) is a globally significant area, comprising five ceremonial counties: Oxfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire. The Arc has the potential to be one of the most prosperous, innovative and sustainable economic areas in the world.

In February 2021, the Government announced their intention to create a Spatial Framework, a long-term plan for sustainable growth in the Oxford-Cambridge Arc, to help create thousands of jobs, drive investment, protect and enhance the environment, and provide infrastructure to the area.

The Government now want to hear from you and are asking for your views to help create a vision for the Oxford-Cambridge Arc Spatial Framework, and in doing so guide the future growth of the area to 2050. They are keen to hear from people who live, work, travel and have a business based in the area, as well as those who just have an interest in the future of the Arc and the area it covers. They have promised to consider all comments received to this consultation, which, alongside other considerations, will help create the Spatial Framework’s vision for the Arc to 2050. It will also help to inform the development of the Sustainability Appraisal.

There could be vast array of both positive and negative impacts on our way of life. This is one of the opportunities to influence the direction of growth where we live.

  • It could bring more jobs, opportunities and affordable housing.
  • It could also increase the amount of traffic, reduce the open spaces and increase pollution.

Please use the following link to give your feedback. The consultation is available till the 12 October 2021 and open to everyone.
