Please note that in accordance with Planning Permission granted CB/TCA/19/00134 Works to trees within a Conservation Area – Central Bedfordshire Council have arranged various tree works to be undertaken around the Village as recommended by their Tree Officer. Works are due to start week commencing 3rd February 2020.
Unfortunately, some of the works will result in the felling of certain trees which are diseased and considered dangerous. These trees have been highlighted with signs. This includes four trees on Lime close which will be felled. The Parish Council met with the Tree Officer last October to discuss the proposals to see if any could be saved but regret there is no choice given the type of disease (mainly kretzschmaria).
The Parish Council will work with Central Bedfordshire Council to ensure new trees are planted to replace these in due course. Due to the type of disease, further Lime trees cannot be planted as they will become infected, but the Council is looking at London Plane trees which are a similar size but not prone to the same disease.
