Submitted Sites Consultation
Central Bedfordshire Council are inviting residents, local businesses and organisations to comment on sites that have been put forward for possible inclusion in the new Local Plan.
Last year, they invited landowners, developers and others to put forward sites they thought had potential for future development through a ‘call for sites’. Putting a site forward does not mean it will be included in the Local Plan or that any decision has been made about it. There is a detailed process that must be followed to decide which sites might be suitable to take forward. As part of that process, all sites will be carefully assessed. This includes looking at a wide range of evidence, such as flood risk, the impact on historic features, access to services, and whether places can be reached by walking, cycling or public transport rather than relying mainly on the car. They must also take account of national planning policies and guidance.
They now want to hear your views on the sites that have been submitted, including any local concerns about particular sites and the reasons for them. They welcome all views, but are asking for residents to focus on the sites in our own local area, where local knowledge will be most valuable.
We have provided a suggested summary and map for each site in the local area, which you can use to base your comments on.
Your views will be considered alongside detailed evidence, national policy and environmental information before any decisions are made about which sites may be suitable to take forward.
The Submitted Sites consultation is open until 11:59pm on Monday 17 August 2026. All comments must be received before this deadline.
The easiest way to share your comments is by using the online consultation platform that can be accessed at https://centralbedfordshire.oc2.uk/. The sites have been organised into parishes, allowing you to quickly access and share your views on the sites put forward in the areas most important to you.
If you would prefer to complete a written or typed form, you must submit 1 form per site you wish to comment on. These are available to collect from the Parish Office or can be accessed here: 2026 Submitted Sites Consultation Comments Form.
